Thank you for your commitment to accessibility.
This website provides tools, guidance, and resources to help UC faculty, academic personnel, staff, and students align with the updated federal digital accessibility regulations, which take effect on April 24, 2026.
UC IT Accessibility Policy (ITAP)
The ITAP is being updated to align with the federal regulations. The 90-day public comment period concluded in December 2025, and the policy team is updating the draft to incorporate feedback.
Read the current UC IT Accessibility Policy (pdf), which was issued in 2013.

Need Support?
Join our monthly digital accessibility office hours. The sessions are held through April 2026, and they're open only to UC employees, so registration is required.
ITAP FAQs
Accessibility is a shared commitment across the UC and plays an important role in how we support students, colleagues, campus visitors, and medical center patients. UCOP has pulled together a list of frequently asked questions related to the proposed ITAP revision to address common accessibility scenarios for all faculty, academic personnel, and staff, with particular attention to the teaching and learning environment, where accessibility considerations most directly shape the student experience.
Read ITAP FAQs.
Accessibility language
UCOP has consolidated sample language and best practices to support clear, respectful, and inclusive communication in common accessibility scenarios.
Accessibility language for PDFs/web pages
If you are unable to access this content due to a disability, please email name@campus.edu for assistance.
Accessibility language for archived content
This section contains archived content made available for reference, research, or recordkeeping purposes. These materials are not actively maintained and may not meet current accessibility standards, such as WCAG 2.1 Level AA. If you need assistance accessing this content or require an accessible format, please contact [insert contact information]. We are committed to ensuring access for all users and will provide accommodations promptly upon request.
Best practices
- Providing an accessibility contact is not a substitute for ongoing accessibility remediation responsibilities.
- Place the accessibility language atop the PDF/web page for greater visibility.
- Ensure email is consistently monitored. Consider a generic email address monitored by a group of individuals. If the email address is monitored by a single individual, ensure coverage when that individual is out of the office or if the individual separates from the University.
- Respond to remediation requests or other requests for assistance in a timely manner. Responsiveness and proactive updates are often effective at preventing the escalation of a request to a complaint or lawsuit.
- Contact your location's ADA Coordinator with any questions regarding accessibility requests.
